I practice the Person-Centred Approach. It is grounded in the belief that everyone has an innate capacity for self-understanding and personal growth. Its deep trust that each of us is the expert on our own lives makes it different from other therapies, and different from a world where we’re so often told what to think about ourselves. The therapist’s role therefore is not to direct, interpret or fragment the client into symptoms and fit them into a theory, but to create a relationship where the client can access and trust their own inner wisdom to become more fully themselves.

People come to me for help with a wide range of issues. Here are a few of the more common experiences I have supported: anxiety, depression, trauma, discrimination, neurodiversity, abuse, addiction, financial worries, health issues, issues from childhood, gender or sexual identity, low self-esteem or confidence, loss and bereavement, anger management, difficulties in work or family life, life transitions, loneliness, relationship difficulties, self-harm and suicidal thoughts. I also work with clients who use therapy for their personal development.
I believe everyone is unique, even if their struggles appear to be the same as others. So while I may have supported people facing challenges like yours, your experience and how you change is uniquely your own.

Research shows that there is no one psychotherapy or counselling approach that is more effective than another. They all have something of value to offer. What matters most, though – besides the client’s own motivation for change - is the quality of connection between therapist and client.

It’s important to find a therapist you feel safe with — someone who truly listens, who seeks to understand you without judgment, and whose presence feels genuine and caring.
To help you decide whether you’d like to work with me, we could begin with a (free) 15-minute introductory call. It’s an opportunity to ask any questions or share anything you’d like to. It may also give you a bit of a feel for how it is to talk with me. If you’d like to do that, please get in touch with me here.
I’d also recommend meeting a couple of other therapists so you can choose who feels best. I’d be happy to provide recommendations.

In the first session, we might explore what’s brought you to therapy and what you’re hoping to get out of it. There is no pressure from me to have clear answers for this – it might be something that needs time to emerge. It will also be an opportunity for you to ask me any questions you may have, and to get a feel for how it is to talk with me. From there, we can decide whether we’d like to work together.

Yes, though I have a very limited number of fortnightly places available. I’m happy to explore with you whether this pacing would suit you better, subject to my availability. My suggestion, though, is to begin with weekly sessions to help us establish our relationship and build some momentum in our work together before reducing our contact.
-
Everything you share with me during your sessions is confidential - except in very rare circumstances, which I will explain and clarify should we meet.
-
It depends on what you’re looking for from therapy, what you’re experiencing and how fully you’d like to explore it together.
Usually I suggest starting with an initial session to see how it feels to talk with me and if you’d like to continue working together. I often find that six sessions are helpful to start exploring what you want to do in therapy and to help establish our relationship - but it’s entirely up to you. There are no limits on the number of sessions you can have. We can assess together what might work best for you.
I will encourage us to find a time for the initial session that we can commit to meeting weekly. If you would like to continue working together after that session, then we already know we have a weekly time we can both make.

Sessions are 50 minutes, though you are never obligated to stay for the whole session. If you would like a longer session, please let me know.

Yes. I am recognised by AXA, Aviva and WPA, and sessions can be funded through these providers. Please feel welcome to get in touch if you have any questions about using your insurance cover.
